One evening I was sitting on the floor, with Tanya's the Doberman's head in my lap. She liked me as much as I liked her. She
was asleep and I could sense she was dreaming about something. Then all of a sudden I flashed on her attacking someone. I could not see who she was attacking. I could see though she was serious about
whatever the incident was. It was if I was watching a mini-movie of the scenario. She had a person backed up against the barn. Dobermans can be quite territorial and intimidating and in this case I could see her
threatening to whomever she had backed up against the barn.
I asked Jake if she had ever attacked anyone and he say no. I told him of what I saw, and said he needed to watch her closely as she would be attacking
someone soon in their barnyard.
He laughed off what I said, after all, he had been the dogs only owner since she was a pup.
Jake loved Tanya very much. And she had never done anything like that and probably never
would hurt anyone. I cautioned him again to pay close attention to her.
Three weeks later Ivy and Porky were in the barnyard one day, when Porky did something very dangerous. Ivy spanked Porky and was yelling at her
very loudly, more out of fear for her child than to intend harm I was told. As I was not there when this incident happened.
But Tanya, the Doberman attacked Ivy and backed her up against the barn just as i had
foreseen. Jake fortunately was near by, and called Tanya off Ivy. Tanya the Doberman had bit Ivy twice on the hand and forearm, it just happened to be the hand she was spanking Porky with.
Needless to say, Jake
and Ivy gave Tanya the Doberman away to folks who did not have children after this incident. I found all this out after this incident.
Ivy had always been somewhat afraid of Tanya prior to this occurring.
After this event Ivy no longer trusted Tanya as a family pet.
Dogs can sense people who are afraid of them.
